Giving Thanks

Thank you for the sweet comments about my new banner. That was a project Aidan and I took on this weekend. (He wanted bright hearts and I wanted muted ones. More on who won that argument later.) And who would have thought that the "jeggings post" would generate so many comments? I think that is pretty funny. Forget the serious stuff, home inspirations and good recipes. I am going to talk about my fashion blunders from now on. (Because I think in a decade we will look back at our jeggings and say "what were we thinking????")

Now on a more serious note. I have been reading a wonderful book. Actually I read it in one evening and wept my way through it. So then I read it again with a highlighter and pen in hand (I never, ever write in books.) because I felt like she was writing it to me. There are so many circumstances in my life right now that seem out of my control and I have fallen into a pattern of self-pity and complaining, feeling fully justified in my behavior. How pathetic, eh? My friend Darlene was a great example of living every day like it was a gift and having a thankful heart. I feel embarrassed for my attitude; I need a change of heart as I have so much to be thankful for.

So...... to celebrate the gifts we have I am having a giveaway. ( I love giveaways!) If you would like to win the book please enter a comment and I will have a drawing in a week. If you link to this post in another you can have two entries into the contest..... just let me know in your comment. And even if you don't want to read it...... just look at the cover. How can you resist?

The cover is wonderful. If you have read it twice, then I'm sure it's a good one. I'd love to read it.

Oh I'm so, so in.

But confession: I already hopped over to Amazon and started reading the few teaser pages they allow...I'm hooked. I might not be able to wait. I may be planning to run to Borders before class tomorrow and purchase it. You've sold me on it.

And and isn't it sometimes odd when something silly...like jeggings...gets people to pipe up? I was telling Gabe this the other day. That sometimes in blogland you can spill your heart all over the page, and feel silly, as though no one heard...but write about new shoes and we girls are all over it. I'm not always the best commenter, so I'm guilty of being quiet when someone shares their heart...but know I'm here reading, whether it's jeggings or meltdowns. :)

Hooray for new books!

The book looks amazing! I always need a good reminder of things in my life to be grateful for! Why is that... when I am surrounded by them every day?!

I am so happy you have found something that speaks to you and to what you are experiencing in your life right now. Please include me in the drawing...will be in Iowa in March to collect!

I'm in, too. Your recommendation and the cover make it a must! We are having a major blizzard. School was already called off at 7:15PM for tomorrow. I am making chocolate lava cakes. Life is good!

I don't need to be entered into the give-away because I'm loving my copy already. :-)

Have you started making a "gifts" list? I came across a journal at Hobby Lobby that had "This is the Day that the Lord Has Made; Let Us Rejoice and Be Glad in It." (Psalm 118:24) on the cover (for less than $2! with my coupon!)and I knew it was meant for me...

I just bought this on amazon a few min. ago!
So! If I win this here, I'm going to give mine to someone. =)

My hubby is always encouraging thankfulness in our home (he must know I need it). It really is a decision of the heart that has nothing to do with our life circumstances. Thankfulness, specifically in salvation is the only place to find true joy.

I'm excited to read this! I know the Lord has much to teach me.

Btw, I don't know what you're going through right now, but I'm going to pray for you.
Take care friend.

Napht... always the giver. I'd love to learn more about this book. Have you read "Choosing Gratitude" by Nancy DeMoss? An easy read and excellent encouragement to do just that.

p.s. i'm with beth...i'm always surprised at how some of my quickest, dumbest posts earn the most comments! it's often surprising what people can relate to!

I found you through Jessica at Swell Life and had to enter for the book - although, I may stay awhile and read a few posts to make my Friday afternoon at work pass a little faster :)
