Aidan was so thrilled to have Charlie come for a visit. We regularly have this conversation when Aidan is being bossy and rude.
me - "Aidan, you know you are not to do that."
Aidan - "But I wanted to."
me- "I know you want to, but I am the boss, and I said no."
Aidan - "Why can't I be the boss? I only get to be the boss of Charlie."
One morning last weekend Aidan woke me up at 6:30 and declared "I hate this!" (which he is not supposed to say, but after a few days with the relatives......) I asked him what he hated, and he stated, "I am supposed to be the boss of Charlie, but he does not listen to me. He won't sit when I say sit, he won't stay when I say stay. I wanted him to sleep in my room and he keeps escaping. Why won't he listen to me????"
Let's just say we had a nice little "teachable moment" about how hard it is when the person who is supposed to listen to you - doesn't. I hope he got the point.

i'll just add that charlie slept almost all the way home and didn't move too far from his spot on the rug the next. he does enjoy playing with aidan but, really, which of us does like being bossed around?? around the clock??
and i looked through my stack of pictures and found 3 of aidan and charlie with the blankets. who is the "everyone' you refer to?? who took countless pictures of the boy, the dog and the couch?? let's seeeeeee -oh it must have been you!! i'm getting a better understanding of james' need to publish his counter-blog.
that would be James. I had taken a few the first night, and then when I unloaded the photos there were TONS.
