If you are like me,

Then sometimes you can be a little vain.

That's right folks, I bet you're shocked.

One of the good things about vanity is that it usually gets you (me) in trouble and lessons can be learned. Like the time I wanted to save some cash so I dyed my own hair two times in a row turning it purple and it ended up costing me an undisclosed wad of cash, all my natural color, 6 inches of beautiful growth and my pride.

Well, in response to the recent Crest Whitestrips holiday commercial, coupled with Target's enticing offer of a $10.00 gift card with a purchase of White strips, I decided the only responsible thing to do was buy some strips and have really white teeth when I see all our families next week.

Since then I have been whitening my teeth every day like its my job.

On Saturday night after a nice night out with some friends, I thought I would just pop in my whitestrips and then go sing bedtime songs to Aidan. I have a habit of falling asleep in his bed, but this time I thought I was safe. I had downed an energy drink, a latte and some chocolate espresso beans in the past few hours, and usually that would keep me awake until 2:00 am.

Not this time.

I woke up at 6:00 am, contacts in, clothes and make-up on, and one set of white strips on my now raw, bloody gums and hyper-sensitive teeth. (I have no idea where the bottom set of strips went, I imagine I swallowed them. Ugh.)

Are my teeth any whiter? I am not sure. I haven't been able to open my mouth very wide yet.

So please, if you see me this Christmas, please humor me and tell me my teeth have never looked whiter. And the next time you are tempted to buy whitestrips or boxes of hair color, remember this post, and let all my hard-earned lessons save you from my humiliations.

That is TERRIBLE. Hope that your poor mouth and stomach will be able to recover soon. Good lesson for us all. I've tried them before and noticed that my teeth were very sensitive for months afterwards. The things we do to be beautiful.

naphtali, sweetie, you know it brightens my day (and so many others') when you post your confessions. we experience that combination of sympathy and amusement, relief that you with your talents and togetherness are willing to put yourself out there for us to commiserate and relate to on your less than talented or together days.there must be hope for us. and you.

That's hilarious, er, I mean sad.

I hope your teeth aren't like Ross' on "Friends". (Did you see that episode? never mind if not.)
