Rough Night

I'm usually not a morning person. I love to sleep in. I confess I will even keep Aidan up at night to ensure I will be able to linger in bed the next morning. So for me to be blogging at 7:30 is very rare. I am acutally supposed to be at work right now, but we had a rough night.

We spent the weekend in Iowa, visiting the Grandma's, and picking up James' new shelf for his office. ( I will post weekend pics later) After we had unloaded the car, hauled the shelf in, mowed the lawn and watered all the plants we decided to head to the park and try out Aidan's new Buzz Lightyear kite. We were about half way there when the kite tails became caught in Aidan's bike chain, and he toppled over. He was hurt; he had a new kind of scream I haven't heard before, and I had to try and carry him, the camera, the bike, the kite and the helmet back home. {note - if you ever see a sweaty, puffing mom hauling her 45 lb kid and his gear up a hill while he sobs and screams, lend her a hand!} I should have asked one of the people who passed me by to take a photo for my blog. Seriously. What ever happened to Minnesota nice?

Anyway, to make a long story short, I am taking Aidan in as soon as he wakes up, b/c I think he may have broken his arm. He has been guarding his left arm, even in his sleep. But last night it was so hard for me to tell how injured he was because he has been playing me (quite succesfully) ever since James left.

Oh........ before I go I need to add one more note to the "rough night" post. Have you ever had a dream that seems a little too realistic for comfort? Last night, as I lay curled up beside Aidan, I was dreaming about mice scampering around his room. (This has been a recurring dream since I have been sleeping in Aidan's room.) However this time I woke up, and I could hear mice!!! I threw all the lights on, waking up Aidan, and freaking him out as I started to move things around in his room, look in his closet, knock on the ceilings, etc. Now, I am prone to over-react sometimes, so I thought, "Maybe it is in my head." I calmed Aidan down, turned the lights off, and decided if I can camp in the Boundary Waters, I can handle a mouse in the wall, right? Except then I heard it again. Loud. So I turned all the lights on again, trying to act tough and calm, packed up Aidan and his things and headed over to my bed. (which happened to be heaped with folded laundry. I haven't put any away since James has been gone.) So..... I couldn't sleep all night. I kept imagining mice sounds, and smells, and I am sure that at some point today Aidan's room is going to be torn apart, deep cleaned and set with traps. Ugh!

Well, I hope you all enjoyed my first, (and probably last) early morning post. And I hope your day goes much better than my night did!
