The Bed!

We promised Aidan when he turned four that a new bed was soon to follow. Poor guy, he was still sleeping in his little crib with one of the side rails off. Lucky for him he sleeps curled up, or his toes would have poked through the crib rails. I really wanted to get a loft bed for him, so that if we ever needed another crib it could just go right underneath. Then Aidan had a bout of bedwetting and the thought of making an eight foot tall bed in the middle of the night somehow didn't seem so appealing. But the past couple weeks he has been able to take himself potty in the middle of the night, and we haven’t had an accident now for almost a month. Since we were already driving right by IKEA to take James to the airport I decided it would be a good time to look for a bed. I am usually pretty decisive, but I could not make up my mind on this one. Toddler bed, youth bed, twin bed, loft bed, bunk bed......... auuggh! There were two beds I really liked, but one was $450, and the other only came in an ugly color. So we ended up with a little bed frame that is only about 7 inches off the floor, but it was also only $35, so if plans change we really won't be out much. Once we put it all together I was quite happy with the end result. Since the bed is so low it his room actually seems bigger than it did when he had the crib!

The crib is still sitting in our entryway; I haven't decided where to put it yet. It seems too precious to just stow in the garage rafters with all our extra 2 x 4's, but we don't really have anywhere in the house for it. I might make you look at a few pictures of it so that you can see why I am so sad to pack it up! We have had lots of fun with that crib over the past four years!

The day he came home from the hospital.

His little nursery.

Chubby cheeks!

Always taking the golf club to bed!

More golf club

Isn't he just the cutest!

Hiding from me

It may look like he is reading, but he is really just enjoying a snack and looking at a fake credit card, on his new bed!

Smile for daddy, Aidan!
