Here's a picture of our first meal on the deck. Not the greatest photo...... but enough to give you a sense of where we will spend most of our time over the next few months. Aidan has his own table, and he prefers to sit there by himself under his "brella." Last year i tried to sit with him, but he politely asked me to leave his table because "Your butt is too big Mommy." Don't worry, i used that opportunity as a teachable moment. He knows better than commenting on any part of a ladies anatomy now!
I am very excited about our vegetable garden. I am sure you will be able to read more about it this spring. We have a very shady, hilly yard, and the only sunny spots we have are the front yard, or along the driveway next to a very talkative neighbor. Neither place really works for me. I usually prefer to garden in solitude. :)
We also have some terraced retaining walls in the back yard that are in full sun. The top row of the terrace is plentiful with raspberries. The bottom row has flower beds lining both edges, leaving this vast, empty 15 x 5 space down the middle. James was kind enough to construct a 12 x 3 box to place right down the middle, and now Aidan and i just have to haul all the dirt back there. Aidan is very excited too. He keeps asking me, "which day are we going to plant things mom? Monday? Tuesday?" He doesn't yet realize just how many wheelbarrows full of dirt we are going to have to haul to be able to fill our garden!
