Last week I thought we would try some new veggies at the Farmer's Market. One of the vendors was passing out some samples of pan-fried butternut squash. Yum. They cubed it, then sauteed it in olive oil, and added fresh salt and pepper to taste. It kind of reminded me of yucca, a root vegetable I ate in South America. I thought for sure Aidan would love it, but I was very wrong. I even tried to pass it off as orange potatoes, but he wasn't buying my line.
One table I walked by had this massive basket of rainbow colored stalks with big, green leaves. The colors were beautiful, and the farmer assured me I would love my swiss chard sauteed and served with salmon, or in a quiche. The colors were so beautiful and vibrant I envisioned myself planting it all around my yard next year, but........ gross. I did not like it one bit, so I couldn't torture Aidan with it either. Thankfully, James eats everything.
I also was able to cross some Christmas gifts off my list... and that is all I will say about that, or I will give myself away.

I tried swiss chard in a recipe recently too. I agree - yuck! Supposedly it is really good for you, but that does not make up for it's taste!
