Wasting Time

Right now I should be sewing instead of blogging, but earlier this evening I sewed some linings together backwards, so now I am avoiding my sewing room. I know, I should stop typing and head back in there, but first I will share some pictures from the past weekend. We were soooo busy! We took in a few volleyball and soccer games, and went to THREE orchards!

The first was a local one our neighbor recommended. I should know by now to take her recommendations with a grain of salt. (She brought me a big LeLeche league pamphlet maybe two days after Aidan was born.) We pulled up to the orchard and Aidan burst into tears, "I wanted a hayride!" Picture a big yard with some trees and a shed. That was it. The little old lady who runs the place is holding on to some prime real estate in the middle of the city, but her apples are so delicious I can see why she is still in business. I bought a bunch today, she's so close it's kind of like running to the grocery store.

Our second orchard was one we stumbled upon as we were trying to find this orchard. We went on a wagon ride and Aidan played on their hay bales and train, and then we moseyed down the road until we came to the "Carpenter St.Croix Valley Nature Center." Wow, it was worth the drive. I will be glad to go there again. Not only did they have all the usual orchard Applefest activities, they are located on a nature preserve, so the area was full of hiking paths along the bluffs and shores of the St. Croix. If you live in the Cities, I would recommend a trip out there.

Aidan also took to calling his father "James" all weekend. It irritates James, so Aidan does it even more. I couldn't help but laugh when I hear his little voice yell, "JAMES!" across the noise of the crowds. He even throws in a "Jamesie" when he is really trying to sweeten James up. He informed us that "that is what Kitty-Grandma calls James, so I want to too." He hasn't given it up yet either. Today he asked me, in a very grown-up fashion, "if I had called James yet about when we are going to Grandma's again."
