In case you were wondering...

We did try and do something nice for James on his birthday. We started off with breakfast in bed - except he woke up too soon, and ended up eating at the table. He told me he secretly loved the little strawberry serving tray I used, decorated with fresh flowers, and complete with cloth napkins and fine china.

We also bought him sushi for dinner, which in my opinion, is a major birthday gift. For one thing, it is expensive, and for another, it is so gross I feel like I have to disinfect my fridge after its gone. And we found we have another little sushi lover in the house. He won't eat tator-tot casserole, or sloppy joes, but he will swallow a piece of raw fish like it is his job. I guess expensive taste runs in the family.

We also had a bonfire and James favorite dessert with our good friends and neighbors, and James finished the night like this.

Moments like these are the best birthday gifts ever.

that is too funny about the sushi... our two year old gobbles it up like it's the best she's ever tasted...sounds to me like you made a very special day happen for your birthday "boy" that last picture is just precious.
