Keen Update

I know it has been keeping a few of you up at night, wondering if I was ever able to find the Keen shoes I wanted so badly from the J.Jill Catalog. The answer is no.... I didn't even look. (Okay, that's not totally true....I actually found some others at REI I want for the winter so I decided to let that other little dream go!)

Instead I decided to spend my money much more sensibly. James had kindly given me a Target gift card as a birthday gift, (???) so I felt like I should use it on a nice purchase instead of frittering it away on Burt's Bee's and clearance racks. So I decided to upgrade my glasses. (Yes folks, for me Target glasses are an upgrade.) My last pair were the cheapest pair I could tolerate from our local Wal-mart, and since they were so cheap, every time I bent over they fell off my head. They just couldn't adjust them to stay on. And for 30$, I didn't care much, as I rarely wore them. However the older I get.... the more my eyes reject their contacts, and the more I have to pull out the glasses.

I figure since I am in my mid 30's, I should aim for smart and subtly sexy........ not sure then why I brought James and Aidan along to help me.... Thank goodness for all the other opinionated people that were in the store. I do love the ones I purchased, except I was rather dismayed when I went to pick them up and saw that the horrid optical assistant who made me so mad when I had pink eye earlier this summer that I had actually called the store manager to complain about her behavior, was wearing the exact same glasses. Oh well. I will have to get over it.

I tried to take a self portrait wearing them, and I have also "posed myself" for James multiple times over the past few days and this is the best picture I can come up with. Sorry guys.

You better not say they look cuter on that Target lady.

That's the best picture?! You're funny - we can hardly see them in that picture! And I think they look horrid on the target girl! :)

I know.... I will make it a goal to get a better picture. seriously, I hate all the photos he takes of me, and this one isn't the greatest either. he tells me I just need to accept the way I look in photos, because...... (drum roll please) it is the way I look in real life. I just can't accept that fact.

The target girl definitely needs a different look! I agree with Stacy...how can we comment on something we cannot see? As for having your photo taken, I once knew a woman who ran a modeling agency. She said the trick to having a good picture taken is first to think of something that always, always, always brings a smile to your face. Always. Those photos will be the most natural and attractive. When you have a chance to pose for a photo (versus ones that are taken when you are unaware) think this same thought and the photo will be great. Try it.

Two more suggestions:
1. There is always Photoshop
2. Check out this article: http://www.canadianliving.com/style/fashion/9_ways_to_look_good_in_photos.php

well, i did photoshop. the picture he took was mostly of the room, and that was as close as i could get without getting too grainy. (FYI- I photoshop almost every single photo I post.) and I was reading my Sundance catalog, which usually makes me very happy. but we will keep trying! youmight just get sick of seeing photos of me in glasses on my blog!

the target girl should know that her days of serious competition are over. and yes, this photo definitely catches that subtle, sexy look....how about a shot of the frames sans face??
