Lavender

I love lavender, and last year I bought a bunch of plants to frame my driveway. After I paid for them I realized they were marked Zone 8, so they would not really tolerate our Zone 4 seasons. However, the sales-person encouraged me to try one, baby it during the winter and see if it could survive. And I am happy to say, it survived beautifully, and has grown like crazy this summer. Last week I split the plant into six plants, and hopefully next year the whole south side of our driveway will be lovely, fragrant lavender.

(p.s. The rocks you see are cairns that we have placed along the driveway between the plants. We collect them whenever we take a trip. So we have some from the ocean, from Colorado, from the North shore, from James' parents and more. They all can tell a story, which makes them fun to have!)

Are some of those rocks from CT? I had to carry them all the way to the car...heavy!

I cannot believe the lavender survived the winter....and actually thrived to the point where you were able to separate them into 6 plants. Congrats.

You are always welcome to visit...with or without family members although I could introduce Aidan to both the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico. Lots of wave action and sand in both. But speaking of invitations, I am surprised you have not commented on the sure thing invitation to travel with your mom and me in January 2010.
