Autumn Fun

Here we go! Jump!

Leaf fight anyone?

Yeah, I let Aidan play with the camera and now there are about 20 blurry photos of me. Somehow I like the blurry face much better than the face I see in the mirror everyday....... but even through the blur, do I see crow's feet?

Of course we didn't pose this!

My attempt at the perfect photo. Note the leaves stuck to his snot.

Much Better!

Please mom.... Bury me!

It's so cute how four-year-olds think its fun to be buried, and then still laugh when you act all surprised when they jump out at you for the fiftieth time!

One last dive!

I hope you are enjoying autumn!

Well, I finished my lap quilt last night, and put it in the mail this morning. My swap partner, Shannon sent me lots of blue fabrics, which was fun because blue is not a color I do a whole lot with, so it was good for me to branch out. I also mixed in some vintage chenille and retro tablecloths too.... I hope she likes it.

The "rules" suggested you handstitch your quilt binding, which I did, and it turned out rather nicely. My corners need some improvement however, so if anyone has a good tip feel free to email me.

Hopefully my other swap partner gets my quilt in the mail this week too. I am so excited to see it. I am already planning to make some throw pillows to match. (in all my spare time.)

(P.S. If you are wondering what on earth I am talking about, you can click here and here. )

Rainy Day Project

Well - let me clarify - more like sick day project. Adian has been sick since Thursday night, so we have been housebound. He told me yesterday that he was "bored from being in the house all day with Daddy." We were planning on going about our normal Sunday activities today, but last night I woke to a little voice crying, "Please somebody cuddle me, I am so sick." And he was right, he had spiked a temp. So we are housebound again today.

Last week he bought that Goldy Gopher pillow for James with his own money. It is now the "Office Pillow." Don't tell James, but I think we are going to make him an "Office Blanket" for Christmas.
Now to our project.

I know it probably sounds ridiculous to many of you, but James office chair has bugged me since we re-did his office this summer. Everything in his office is now warm and rich, except his grey, drab old chair. (Which I might add I bought for $5.00 at a secondhand store before we were married.) When his birthday rolled around this summer I thought about telling his mom James really wanted this chair for a present, but as much as I wanted a different chair for him, I know he doesn't feel the same way. (And I have to add that the chair from IKEA was horribly uncomfortable. Now you know that's the real reason I didn't ask for it!)

I tossed around the idea of recovering his old chair but I wasn't quite sure how it was assembled, so I thought I would just keep my eye out for another chair. Then last week the back fell off (with the help of a certain little boy.) Perfect! I even had a huge piece of light beige upholstery-weight velveteen from Schumacher's given to me a few weeks ago. Now that chair is probably the most expensive thing in his office.

I love it!

This is where

I spent my day.

I would love to say I sold out, but I have to admit, today's show was a bust. I have participated in this show two years in a row now....... I am not thinking I see a third in my future.

But the good news is I have plenty of items to restock the shops I am in, and I have a jump start on my next show, which promises to be much more successful. I also was able to catch up on some reading and sort through my massive piles of mail and magazines.

I am trying to branch out from bags this year and have more of a variety of items. Scarves have been a big hit, and I have also made some mittens, cloth napkins, dish towels, baby blankets, onesies, bibs..... all sorts of items. I had hoped to come home today with a good feel for how those other items would sell, but no such luck.
Next time, right?

Pumpkin time

Bet you can't guess whose pumpkin is whose?
